I am a Certified Athletic Therapist with additional training in somatic breathwork therapies, coaching, trauma informed care and integrative herbalism. My professional practice has been born out of my own experiences as a patient, athlete with various injuries and human moving through her own experiences.
Movement was my first love affair, which led me down a therapeutic path. From there I met the breath, the nervous system, bodywork and experienced what it means to be an impactful therapist from practitioners I met on the client side of the table, as well as experiences I have had as a practitioner. I have spent time as a personal trainer, medical equipment salesperson, first responder, group movement instructor and coach, athletic therapist, breathworker, mentor, somatic therapist, energy worker, performance coach and embodiment coach.
I seem to call in the “complex” cases and work often with chronic illnesses, chronic pain, diagnosis’ such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, PTSD/C-PTSD, EDS, anxiety/depression, IBS, auto-immune based presentations, and many more undiagnosed chronic or complex symptoms.
My practice has always been focused on education, seeing the whole person amidst all the parts and supporting my clients in enhancing their relationship to themselves amidst the chaos of life.
I am currently in the final stages of a herbalism apprenticeship and look forward to adding this to my existing practice.
Your first session will always include an in depth assessment to get to know you, what is bringing you in and any goals or intentions you have. I support clients with all sorts of things. Some sessions may be focused on getting you back on track after a physical injury, and some sessions may be focused on tuning into the subtle cues from our body to unlayer long held tensions or sensations. Kat works with a variety of modalities, including bodywork, breathwork, somatic therapies, mindfulness and movement.
As an athletic therapist with additional training in trauma sensitive care and embodied somatics, I am a specialist and managing acute and chronic injuries. This can include anything from a recently injured musculoskeletal area, concussions, post surgical rehabilitation, management of chronic pain or held tension in the body, neurological injuries or condition management and manifestations of PTSD/C-PTSD through body based therapies.
I work frequently with chronic pain conditions and my philosophy of care is supporting my clients towards practical ways for them to improve their quality of life. This often includes using tools like hands on therapies, breath based techniques, somatic therapies, movement guidance and lifestyle guidance. Whether we are focusing on hands on therapies to support your experience of symptoms, or integrating holistic and herbal based recommendations, I aim to support you in a way that enhances your quality of life and lived experiences.
Many of my clients see me for progressive , ongoing care. I offer integrated bodywork, movement facilitation, breathwork facilitation and embodiment focused coaching as forms of therapy as well as personal development. I work with athletes, first responders, teachers, kids, seniors, office workers, manual labourers and many others to support them as they move through life. On completion of my Integrative Herbalism apprenticeship, I am also now offering guidance in natural remedies and holistic lifestyle guidance.
I believe that we are best served with a team on our side. I am more than willing to collaborate with your existing professionals, and will often make suggestions as we work together on other providers who may be good fits for the context we are in.
